“Aurum 1006 km Races” Has Begun in Palanga

On Saturday at 12 o’clock, the racers could finally start their engines on the track.

In front of the start line, the racing teams lined up as usual in accordance with the results of the qualifying races.

Racers and team leaders were congratulated by the Mayors of Klaipėda, Palanga and Kretinga, ex-Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius, Lithuanian Automobile Sport Federation, “Promo Events” organiser Darius Jonušis and others.

The Lithuanian Anthem was played by trumpeter V. Grubliauskas.

Racers have started driving the 373 laps (one of them is 2682 m or 1006 km long).

The race ends when the first crew crosses the finish line or the limit for 10 hour long over-exceeds.

The shortest race was almost 9 hours long in 2016.

On Saturday, 37 teams have begun the race. “Skuba Racing Team” could not compete anymore due to the failure with the oil pump.
