The Fastest in the Qualifications was Robertas Kupčikas

The difference between the qualifications and the main competition is almost inexistent. Yet the main distinction is that the qualifications only last for 1 hour. These qualifications always surprise the spectators with their emotional rides.

Failing at the Last Minutes

On July 20, it was very difficult to tell which team will receive the winner’s award at the last seconds of the qualification.

The 1st participant to cross the finish line was “Palanga Spa Hotel by EMG Motorsport” with “Porsche 911 GT3 Cup”.

The best time of 1 min. 10,18 sec. was reached by Robertas Kupčikas. This is the best result that has ever been achieved in the qualifications.

The fight for the prize was between “Porsche 911 GT3 Cup” and “BMW M3 V8 BigDaddy” as the owners improved their performance at every position.

When the red flags were raised, the “Skuba Racing Team” BMW stopped in the middle of the tracks and nobody really knows the cause. It could be a problem with electronic systems which may be fixed by Saturday.

Despite that, the racer Marius Slaboševičius recorded the second best result in the race. Jonas Gelžinis outperformed him in the last minute while Robertas Kupčikas achieved the best result out there.

M. Kupčikas stated that he drove “Porsche 911 GT3” a few years ago, yet it did not stop him to drive faster until the record.

Intrigue Until the Last Moment

“Aurum 1006 km Races” qualification is divided into two parts. The first one lasted 30 min. and all 38 teams competed for the better position at the Saturday’s game.

The second part lasts only 15 min. The best 10 contestants who performed well in the first part have another chance as they can compete and record a better result only with 9 opponents.

Qualification result have a small say in 10 hour-long competition. In the “Aurum” racing history, there have been cases where the mistakes were made when the participants wanted to enhance their performance. This year there were no accidents.

The winners “Palanga Spa Hotel by EMG Motorsport” outperformed “Circle K milesPLUS racing team” only by 0,197 sec.

“Skuba Racing Team” which took the 3rd place lagged behind by 0,295 sec. Other six participants fitted in 1 sec, thus it is difficult to predict the competition.
