Decibel Drag (db Drag), which is rapidly gaining popularity, has found a place in the entertainment line-up of the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race, which starts next week.
Db Drag is a popular worldwide competition for car audio enthusiasts, where everyone tries to prove whose in-car sound system is more powerful by measuring the decibel level of the sound emitted per unit volume of an enclosed or open car.
This year will be the eighth edition of the Audio Freakz Lietuva team's annual competition for car sound system enthusiasts in Palanga, where spectators can expect not only deafening sound that drowns out the roar of the engines, but also new and unprecedented impressions.
"Over the years, by changing the rules, the style of the event and the classes of participants, we can say that we have already perfected the best possible format for this competition, which is the most attractive for the audience," says Paulius Maksvytis, Director of the Audio Freakz Association, which organises the Audio Freakz fiesta.
So this year, all participants will be able to fully test the capabilities and limits of their equipment in 3 separate match formats:
dB Drag, where the highest score achieved is measured.
BassRace, where the average decibel level is measured based on audio tracks provided by the organizers.
Street Sound is another category, introduced a few years ago, which quickly gained popularity not only in Lithuania but across the Baltic region.
This competition format is specifically designed for those who have invested a lot of work and investment in their front door speakers. The tests therefore measure the decibel emissions of open-door speakers.
Each year, the level of competition increases, with many participants moving up into higher categories and delivering even more impressive results.
For the Decibel gourmets, the first Db Drag event was held in 1994 in the United States of America.
According to unconfirmed data, there are over 130 000 officially registered Db Drag competitors worldwide.
The Db Drag world record is 185.4 db, which is equivalent to the sound recorded at the launch pad of a Saturn V rocket.
