On 17-20 July, Palanga hosted the 25th anniversary of the largest race in the Baltic States, Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook, organised annually since 2000 by the Public Enterprise 1000 km Races. "Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines" - this legendary phrase came from an extraordinary man this year - Vytautas Venskūnas, the winner of the very first Aurum 1006 km race in 2000. He won the first race together with Vladas Laurinavičius and Eugenijus Tumalevičius driving a Porsche 911.
Before the national anthem of Lithuania was played by the young Aistė Gedvilaitė, and soon the athletes started to write the history of the anniversary race.

108 crews and 423 women successfully completed the 108 km Women's Challenge on Friday, marking the 25th anniversary of the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook with these record numbers.
The women's orienteering rally, which stretched through seaside towns and cities, not only required the participants to admire the scenery, but also to overcome obstacles or solve specific tasks.
