On Friday, the ninth edition of the OlyBet Women's Challenge took competitors on a journey across the roads of Lithuania's Baltic coast and the Žemaitija region. Traditionally held on the eve of the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race, this year's recreational navigation rally featured a challenging 205-kilometre route, with 125 kilometres completed by following a detailed roadbook.
Throughout the day, crews not only searched for checkpoints but also tackled a variety of driving and precision challenges. Participants competed in two different slalom events – one focused on precise car control, while the other, held at the Kretinga motoball stadium, placed greater emphasis on speed. The programme also included a low-grip driving challenge and simulator sessions, giving competitors the opportunity to drive the legendary Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook circuit in a virtual environment.
"The day certainly didn't feel long, even though the route was demanding. The crews covered 205 kilometres, with more than half of the distance navigated using a roadbook. We're delighted that every challenge ran smoothly and that the participants showed remarkable sportsmanship. When one crew suffered a puncture, several others stopped to help change the wheel before continuing their own journey. Moments like these perfectly capture the true spirit of the Women's Challenge," said event organiser Jolanta Iselionienė.
After completing the day's challenges, the crews crossed the finish line in the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race village, where the award ceremony took place later that evening. The prizes, presented by the event organisers and partners, were handed out by Algis Latakas, Chief Executive Officer of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority.
