On December 10, Promo Events started online registration for the Aurum 1006 km race, which is called the largest motorsport event in the Baltic States. Event will take place in Palanga on 14-17 of July 2021.

Aurum 1006 km race finish

For two decades, as long as marathon races have been held in Palanga, the champion team has never been able to defend the title won a year ago.

The 21st Aurum 1006 km race was won by the same team that triumphed here last year - Circle K milesPLUS Racing Team and its great four Julius Adomavičius, Jonas Gelžinis, Estonian Ralf Aron and Oskaras Brazaitis, with the Porsche GT3 Cup Gen2 not only won an impressive absolute victory, but also celebrated the victory in the GT Open class.

4 hours 29 minutes 49 seconds – this much time it took for “Aurum 1006 km race” leader “Circle K milesPLUS Racing Team” and its driver Oskaras Brazaitis to reach 186-th lap, which marks championships halfway.

While leader still remains “Circle K milesPLUS Racing Team”, only four laps separates “Vytautas gazuotas” with its driver Ramūnas Čapkauskas from thre first place.

Third was „Noker Racing Team“ with racer Sten Piirimagi, while fourth – „Porsche Club by LG OLED“ with its driver Marius Barkus.

In second place „Vytautas gazuotas“ with „Porche GT3 Cup“, driver Mindaugas Platūkis, has driven five laps less than leader.

This year race orginaisers brought back „one driver 70 minutes“ rule, meaning one driver must rest for 50 miniutes.

New record: by electric car around Lithuania in 22 hours

On Saturday morning, Vitoldas Milius and Dainius Jakas reached a new record - the perimeter of Lithuania they drove by Kia e-Niro in 22 hours. 00 min. Driving a total of 1,176 kilometers on the paved roads closest to the border.

This is the first such achievement. So far, no one has tried to overtake the Lithuanian electric car, and the achievement was considered a record car with an internal combustion engine.

The electric car is a different vehicle, so the record is new.

Todays “Aurum 1006 km race” start marks third decade

Today at 12pm local time at Palanga a start for “Aurum 1006 km race” was given for the 21-st time.

All viewers, racers and organizers were rewarded with extravagant flight by Lithuanian aviation enthusiasts with several replicas of antique airplanes, which were reconstructed using the last few remaining photos of them.

At the start line 27 racing teams were lined up, all of them had accidents occur to them yesterday, except “Dynami:t energy by Baltic Petrolium”, which couldn’t repair their vehicle overnight.

Yesterday qualification winners were only 0,066 seconds slower than last year’s track ...
