This year's race was opened by Šarūnas Vaitkus, the mayor of Palanga and the main organiser of the "Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook" race, the director of Promo Events, Darius Jonušis, who talked about the importance of the race not only for the country's motorsport but also for the resort life.
A magnet for spectators
After the technical committee on the eve of the race, it became clear that 31 cars would line up at the start line of the "Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook" race this year. Among them were 11 BMWs of various modifications, 7 Porsches and 3 Audis. Proving the benefits of a child seat.
The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of "Britax-Romer", a partner of the "Olybet 108 km Women's Challenge", which starts on Friday. A demonstration to a crowd of spectators showed how to install a child seat in a car to make the little one feel comfortable and safe in it.
The first prize winners have already been announced
The first short "Dynami:t Super Sprint" race in the "Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook" programme was also held. It was won by Egidijus Gražys in his "Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport", completing the approx. 60-metre distance in 5.27 seconds. The second place went to Eugenijus Sladkevičius, driving a "Ford Shelby GT350 Evo2", who recorded the same time. Dovilas Čiutelė won third place, who beat the distance in 5.29 seconds in his red "Lada 2104".
