Hopes to win “Aurum 1006 km“ race crashed in Belgium

“Porsche Club Lithuania“ team – Mantas Janavičius, Marius Bartkus, Arūnas Tuma and Aurelijus Rusteika – were dedicated to win the anniversary “Aurum 1006 km“ race. Every team member has already tasted the victory champagne, thus, they wanted to drink it again this year.

Unfortunately, their hopes crashed in “SPA Francorchamps“ race. The team would have driven “Porsche 991 GT3 CUP”. During test drives in “SPA Francochamps“ track, the team has crashed the car. Although at first, they hoped than team engineers’ will fix the problems on the outside, after looking into the car from inside it was clear that the damage was worse than expected.

Sportsmen did not give – they have started calling every team whose car they could borrow. Nevertheless, after every call their hopes were low. The team had explained that every team indeed has cars but they do not want to risk it before one of the most important races in racing world - “SPA Francochamps“.

Spa race has registered 72 participating teams, thus with extra cars – 144 cars are rented. The team will drive in “Aurum 1006 km“ for fun and they would never miss a chance of driving in this event but the hopes of winning are buried.

The new car is going to be “Porsche 911 Carrera“ – not so fast and manoeuvring but when you want to participate it is enough but never say never.
