The 23rd “Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook” race starts in Palanga
"Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines", said the main organiser of the event, Darius Jonušis, Director of Promo Events, welcoming all those who had gathered for the opening ceremony, including politicians and representatives of the local authorities, and wishing the drivers good luck and a tenacious fight that would captivate the audience right up to the last metres.
Igoris Lobanovas, pilot of the “Iron Wolf Aerobatics” team, who recently returned from Southern Spain, where the Spanish National Aerobatic Championships were held, also made his debut at the opening of the “Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook” Race.
The best start of the race was made by Paulius Paškevičius of “Gera dovana-Šiauliai By RD Sings”, who started from the second position in a “Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo”.
Just behind the leader, the first laps were taken by both “Audi R8 LMSs” driven by the track record holder, Ralf Aron of “Circle K MylesPlus Racing Team” and his colleague and rival from “Circle K - Lesta Racing Team”, Julius Adomavičius.
This hierarchy continued until lap 13, when the determined drivers of both “Audis” passed Paulius Paškevičius.
But this is only the beginning of the race, and there is still a lot more to endure, which will inevitably include some craziness and all the other things that make a perfect endurance race. One hour into the race, the top three were still the same. But now the driver changes are about to begin, and the order will inevitably change.
