Mechanics are fast not only in the garage but also on the track

The mechanics of the “Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook” race teams had the opportunity to prove that they are not only very fast at changing wheels, changing gearboxes and refuelling. The race traditionally gives them the opportunity to compete in the 1006 metres running race.

Mechanics, who usually do the work of diligence, expertise, and precision, are often the invisible reasons of victory: if it were not for them, the teams would not be able to achieve victory.

The fact that the finish line of the 1006 metres is in the service area gives the mechanics extra motivation, with team drivers and race guests cheering on the mechanics as they compete.

This year, the battle for third place was particularly exciting, with Tautvydas Pūkas overtaking his rival from “Antėja Racing Team” only in the final stages.

The “Anjesė-KTG by TOP sport” team member had some troubles yesterday when he had to change the engine of his race car, and on Friday, the team had some troubles as well, but Tautvydas proved that he justified the team's trust in him by fighting to the very finish line.

“Hobu Racing” mechanic Martynas Kregždė finished second, and after the finish he said that he was the envy of his teammates: not only did he get a nice trophy, a fire extinguisher, and a full case of “Dynami:t” energy drink, but he also got a short break.

“I told my colleagues to keep up from the very beginning, because it would be very difficult to catch up after that. I got off to a good start and kept my strength until the finish, which helped me win” smiled a happy Dominykas Steponavičius from “Dream2Drive”, who was awarded the main prize of 100 portions of “Aurum” ice-cream on the main stage.
