The Start of “Aurum 1006 km Race”
The biggest competition of the Baltic countries called “Aurum 1006 km Race” which is organized by “Promo Events” has begun on July 19.
“Dynami:t Super sprint” races are a traditional event that is favourable among the spectators.
Before this event, people were interested to see the parade of racers in Vytautas street. The racers had an opportunity to talk with the crowd and look at the vehicles.
In the parade, people could bet on Saturday’s Grand finale. Which one will be the first to cross the finish line? This is the main question that rises every year in Vytautas street.
This year, the technical commission allowed to participate 38 teams of which only 7 teams will be competing in the separate “TCR Baltic Trophy” Championship.
It is relatively a new competition in the Baltic countries. Yet it is rapidly developing with every year due to the successful runs. It is expected that TCR bolides which are driven by the teams would succeed in competing not only in their own class but also in the general race.
The newest engines and the experienced racers prove that this is possible. That is why Vytautas street was filled with people: the TCR bolides got their attention.
The biggest weapon of ”Hegelmann transporte by Algirdai racing” is „Hyundai i30 N TCR“ which will be controlled by Deividas Jocius and others: Mindaugas Liatukas and Kevin Abbring.
Ramūnas Čapkauskas will be racing in “DHL Racing Team” with other members of the group: Audrius Stasiulevičius, Saulius Girdauskas.
“ALM Motorsport” will control the 350 AG motor which has TCR class “Seat Leon Cup Racer TCR”. The members of the team are: Robin Vaks, Reinis Nitinš, Justas Jonušis.
From 18 long-distance tournaments, 11 teams have won races which were driven with various “Porsche” cars. In this year’s competition, we will have 4 “Porsche” bolides, one of which will be driven by A. Rusteika, Mantas Janavičius, Marius Bartkus and Arūnas Tuma.
Belgian team including well-known racers such as Steve Vanbellingen, Wim Meulders, Thomas Piessens, Johan Vanloo and Nemunas Dagilis will compete with “Porsche 911”.
“Porsche 911 GT3 Cup” will be piloted by Jonas Gelžinis who won 7 times in Palanga. His brother Ignas as well as Ralf Aron from Estonia will be helping him.
10 hour-long running races have a lot of surprises as everyone can finish the first.
The official opening’s song “1006” composed by IronVytas and Ingrida Kazlauskaitė caught a lot of attention.
Next year, “Promo Events” will celebrate 20 year anniversary of “Aurum 1006 km Races”. Thus, the organiser, Darius Jonušis, says good luck to all of the contestants and explains that this year’s events should be looked only as a rehearsal for what’s to come.
“Dynami:t Super sprint” which is represented by “Volfas Engelman” threw a victory competition which was won by Arūnas Tuma from “Porsche Baltic” with 4,75 sec in the 60 metre distance. The second finalist was a racer Dovilas Čiutelė who finished the third last year in the same competition. The third place was won by “Kautra-Subaru Racing Team”.
