Engines are already revving on the "Aurum 1006 km" race track
Just after returning from the parade and the opening ceremony in Palanga's Vytautas Street, the drivers occupied the main "Aurum 1006 km" race track, where they started their first training sessions. The Chief Commissioner, Gražvydas Smetonis, divided the teams into two groups, and the first to practice were those driving the most powerful cars.
Although the cars were fast on the track, they fell short of Julius Adomavičius' record set last year when he completed one track lap in 1 min. 7,126 sec. Julius was also the fastest in the first practice session this year. Driving for "The Circle K Miles Plus Racing Team" in the "Audi R8 LMS Gt3 Evo II," he completed the lap in just 1 min. 08.326 sec.
Paulius Paškevičius from "Nebankrutuok.lt-Club Exit by RD Sings" took second place with his "Lamborghini Huracan ST E" at 1 min. 09.116 sec. Karolis Jovaiša of "Chemtransa by Juta Racing" followed closely in the "Porsche GT3 Cup II" at 1 min. 09.206 sec.
The battle on the "Aurum 1006 km" race track is intensifying, and it's expected to get even more intense tomorrow during the qualifying session, culminating in the fight for the first starting position in Saturday's race.
