From 9:00 a.m. on Friday, drivers were back on the circuit as another practice session for the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race got underway ahead of this afternoon's qualifying. However, the opening 90-minute practice session came to an early end following an on-track incident.
Halfway through the session, Tadas Kaminskas of the LIK Racing by Delphi team lost control of his BMW G20 Turbo Cup in the corner leading onto the main straight and went off the circuit. The driver was unharmed, but the car sustained significant body damage. Team members said they are now working intensively to repair the damaged components and remain hopeful that the car will be ready for qualifying, which is scheduled to begin at 3:55 p.m.
Although the incident also damaged part of the track barriers, the circuit's safety crews responded quickly and completed the necessary repairs, allowing the second practice session to begin with a delay of just five minutes.
Friday's programme also includes qualifying for the Mitjet Baltics series, track sessions for Porsche Club Lithuania, qualifying for the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race, and the Super Pole shootout, where the ten fastest qualifiers will battle for pole position.
