Students are ready to challenge veterans of “Aurum 1006 km race”

The biggest car racing festival in Baltic states “Aurum 1006 km race“ each year brings many surprises and new events. This year’s surprise is that a student team is going to challenge veterans of the race.

The team is from Kaunas University of applied sciences making a debut in less than a month in the race. The race did not even start yet, however, the team is already in the race history as the first student team to participate in this race.

One of the drivers, Povilas Bonkevičius, has graduated from the university last year and have stayed to work there as well as taking care of the team “KTK racing division“. The team will drive “Volkswagen Golf V GTI“.

Why did the team choose to participate in the race?

Last year all of them have participated in various tournaments. However, long-distance races are their favorite. This year the race festival is celebrating the 20th anniversary. When is it better than time than now?

Even though the team is young, they all have gathered some experience in racing. Team members are sincerely preparing their debut in this race as well as training hard. Their goal is to finish and be the first student team that has reached the finish of “Aurum 1006km race”.
