Traffic safety promotion is an essential element at the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook racing festival
The Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race will take place on 14 of July in Palanga. It will be the 22nd race in the history of the event. Although many elements of the largest racing festival in the Baltics have changed, the primary purpose and values of the event have remained the same - promotion of the legal race and traffic safety.
In two decades, the organisers of the races have managed to prove that motorsports are the most suitable for promoting traffic safety. "Since the first race in 2000 in Palanga, we emphasised that racing is possible only on special tracks prepared for the competition, monitored by qualified race officials and specialists," says Darius Jonusis, the initiator and organiser of the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race.
One of the important elements of the "Aurum 1006 powered by Hankook" festival is the Drag competition. The Drag Race in Palanga will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, and this is a great opportunity to talk about safe racing and only on specially prepared tracks. The Lithuanian Police Force highly supports the event. The Lithuanian Police Department annually establishes the trophies for the winners, which the head of the department, Vytautas Grašys, presents. Organisers acknowledge that the success of traffic safety promotion highly impacted by close collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration.
VĮ "Automagistralė" and their specialists have been a big help for many years already; they are coming to the event with special simulators for the event's spectators to show how important seat belts are and what feelings people can experience when driving a car and having an accident.
Many teenagers now remember the electric car track for little ones set up by the State Enterprise Lithuanian Road Administration in collaboration with club "Kelelis", which has become the first real traffic safety class for beginners.
During the Aurum 1006 km powered by Hankook race festival in Palanga, everyone will feel traffic safety importance because lots of traffic safety elements will be implemented not just around the racing village but also on the racing track.
